Format Hard Drive - An easy way?
I have been given a PC for my son.
I want to clean it and wipe off the old owners files and data. Yes I can format the hard drive,,,,BUT is their another way of doing it so I can keep the same OS but it would be like new with none of the old owners files?
I do not have the Drivers and can't find them on the net, so if I did format I would have problems with VGA, Lan, etc.
Any help would be appreciated and I thank you all in advance
You may have some success with creating a new username for your son, then deleting the old one and allowing Windows to delete the old user's files. For absolute certainty, I'd recommend you format and reinstall Windows.
You might look into a program called Driver Backup to backup the device drivers. I'm not sure how well it works, though.
