I built my own desktop PC and there is no video when I turn it on.Is my video card compatible to motherboard?
Motherboard: Asus A8V-X VIA K8T800 Pro Socket 939 ATX MB w/SND & LAN
I have 2 video cards to choose from: 1) ATi Radeon X700PRO 128MB DDR3 AGP Video Card w/DVI TV-Out. 2) ATi Radeon 9000 128MB DDR PCI Video Card w/DVI TV-Out
Everything else is hooked up right. I use an RGB to DVI cable connecting it to my HD TV which is compatible for pc's. When I turn my computer on, everything works but the video doesn't come on. What should I do?
My HD tv is a 22" LG LCD. I have tried to connect to a regular monitor but still nothing shows when I turn it on.
Every other component works with the motherboard. I spent a lot of money when I first bought parts. I didn't look at the compatibility and so I had to purchase new parts that would work. So I am pretty sure its something with the video. I would just hate to bring it to a coputer store and pay 60 bucks to have them do something that I'm sure someone else out there knows about.
Do you know that the problem is, in fact, with the videocard? If this is a brand new build, it could be infinitely many things that you've done wrong in assembly.
To determine whether your videocard is faulty, or something else in your build is faulty, take your videocard out and test it in another computer.
A few things to check:
Try plugging in a regular monitor first, so you can configure it for the tv
Make sure the motherboard isn't shorting out on the case
Make sure the CPU is seated correctly
Check for any beep codes, and look them up in your manual
Make sure the power cable is plugged into your videocard, if it needs one
Try having one videocard in at a time, and checking each one
Make sure the ram is properly seated
Check every cable to see if it is all the way in
