I can't get Ubuntu (karmic koala) to boot on my g3 powerpc?
i burnt a disc of Ubuntu Karmic Koala for my powerpc tower g3 mac. i used the powerpc version and before the installing, i reformatted my hard drive (27g) into Fat32, then i pressed the power while holding the "C" key to start the boot disk. I successfully ran through the entire procedure and installed Ubuntu, but at the end of the process the computer did the auto restart as it intended. Then the system restarted and didn't boot up Ubuntu, and i was left with a screen with a folder, a mac symbol and a question mark. i suspect that the problem has to do with a boot agent not kicking in, as when i examined the hard drive from another computer it seemed fine. please help me figure out how to install linux.
ya during the Ubuntu install it broke it into its partitions and to the best of my knowledge the OS itself installed correctly.
Did you repartition the hard drive as well? I'm guessing that Ubuntu might not like booting from an Apple Partition Map.
