Putting The HP Color LaserJet 3800n Printer Through Its Paces
Putting the HP Color LaserJet 3800n printer using LaserJet 3800n bulk toner through its paces will reveal that Hewlett-Packard has produced an upgrade model to its popular 3800 series of printer products that are both laser jet and able to be easily networked. This model is a variation of the original 3800 printer, and it must be said that HP has given it a number of attributes that are an improvement over its sibling.
To begin with, the 3800n now features HP's Jetdirect Fast Ethernet embedded print server. As well, it has two different types of wireless capabilities, including 802.11b/g wireless LAN features and it also comes to any network it's going to be hooked into network-ready. In terms of making it easier to interface a printer, any IT specialist will say that one that is network-ready is preferable over one that isn't.
Print speeds across the 3800 range of printers are excellent, with all able to produce product at over 22 ppm (pages per minute). In terms of the competition, this puts the Hewlett-Packard a couple of sheets per minute quicker than most. For a small or medium-sized network, this can be attractive. Print task times also are very nice, at under 12.5 seconds from task to output, as well.
A standard 533 MHz processing chip handles all of the chores within the printer. This particular chip is also standard equipment in every 3800 model in the line. All will be able to take a large number of print assignments and prioritize and then produce their assignments with little trouble and no hangup or stuttering from dealing with multiple assignments. Most workgroups rapidly come to appreciate this sort of reliability.
All 3800 printers also are capable of putting out up to 65,000 pages per month before requiring any sort of maintenance. This reliable duty cycle is also another attractive feature of every 3800. These particular printers come with four separate HP bulk toner, meaning they are not laser printers but, rather, laser jet. Black, yellow, magenta and cyan cartridges are used by the 3800.
Standard print resolution is the same, as well, across all models in the 3800 printer lineup. This particular printer features 600 dots per inch resolution, meaning that any sort of print product that emerges will usually look crisp and clear and with no blurring or smudging in evidence. This is so even with graphics-rich print taskings, which the 3800n handles fairly easily.
Every 3800 in the lineup comes with the same paper-carrying capability. All feature to standard paper trays, with the option to add a third when needed. 850 sheets of paper can be accommodated with little trouble, as well as 10 envelopes, though no 3800 comes with an automated envelope feeder, is really a very minor sticking point that is of no real concern, to be honest.
Total memory capacity within the printer can be as much as 544 MB, though it comes standard with a still-nice 160 MB of RAM. The HP Color LaserJet 3800n printer should be able to handle just about any size print job, in other words, even with the standard 160 MB of memory. Put all together, including that it comes at a nice price, and this particular 3800 model should be quite attractive to most any workgroup.
