Is my Computer Setup Good?
Hello,
First off,
I have more than enough money to buy it so please no negative comments and stuff. Anyways
I'm going to buy an Alienware Aurora R3 Online and I was Customizing it a a bit and was wondering if this setup is good since i'm no expert.
Power Supply: 875 Multi-GPU
Processor: Intel Core i7-2600 (8MB Cached) Overclocked Turbo Boost to 3.9GHz
OS: Windows 7
Monitor: 21.5" Alienware AW2210 OptX™ Full HD Gaming Monitor
Memory: 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz
Hard Drive: 2TB SATA 6Gb/s (7,200RPM) 32MB Cache
Graphics Card: Dual GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce 460 GTX
Sound Card: Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio
Motherboard: MicroATX
Also I`m wondering if the computer is compatible for NVIDIA SLI®
And if there are things that shouldnt go with each other or things that are recommended.
This is my first gaming computer so I want to know as much information as I can
Thanks.
Well price/performanmce, alienware is the worst. You best off buying parts from newegg.com and building it yourself.
OR
you can go to:
http://www.ibuypower.com
http://www.cyberpowerpc.com
both would be better values then alienware...
As for that specific computer, not incuding any price.
-Cpu: in the top 3. the $1000 i7-990x 6core is the best in preformance, and then next is the i7-2600k. The 6core is only a small fraction of a bit better then the 2600, so its not worth it. the 2600k has unlocked multipliers for max overclocking.
-Ram: 8gb is good, but i would have gone with ddr3 1600 CL7 or 8 for this type of build.
-HDD: fine, 2tb is a little much, but w/e. Best performance lies in sata III SSD. i would get a 256gb SSD(for windows, software and games) + 1tb 7200rpm hdd (for media, like pics, movies, music etc), if i had the money.
-Graphics: terrible, your graphics are the bottleneck in all of this. gtx460 is older. Id suggest GTX560/570. If you really have no money limit, then gtx580.
SLI=no, 1 good card > 2 lesser cards. SLI uses more power, puts off more heat, and doesnt always scale well. You may see no fps increase over the 1 card.
-motherboard, dont really like micro atx boards, unless for a cheap budget build. and dont really list any other specs on it, so cant comment.
-PSU wattage is enough even for a better graphics. But not enough info about it to say whether or not its good. getting an 80+ certified psu is best. corsair, antec, silverstone, and seasonic are the top brands.
