Jura Impressa S9 – Perfection At The Touch Of A Button
The Jura-Capresso Impressa S9 fully automatic bean-to-cup coffee machine continues Jura's reputation for producing state-of-the-art machines and further cements their position as a premium brand.
For those who cannot put a price on quality coffee and the ability to have complete control over the brewing process this jura coffee machine offers everything you could want, whilst also providing a single button function for those who prefer to keep things simple.
The Impressa s9 is an imposing machine which maybe isn't as aesthetically pleasing as its Italian rivals, but its size hints at other strengths such as a rugged build quality and a multitude of features hidden away inside. Three separate hot water temperature settings give the user unrivalled control over the brewing process and illustrates Jura's desire to go that extra mile.
It offers the choice of using coffee beans or ground coffee - via a separate funnel - and you needn't worry about running out of beans as the machine has an electronic level sensor to warn you when you need to refill the hopper.
Other features include a stainless steel cup warming platform, a water care system, and an insulated stainless steel milk container which can keep milk cold for up to eight hours. If you also consider the fact that it's powered by an astonishing 19 bar pressure system, while most other machines have a maximum of 15-16, you'll begin to see why Jura are a class apart.
That's not all; it also incorporates state-of-the- art One Touch technology which allows to make cappuccino, cafe mocha, latte or latte macchiato at the touch of a button.
In fact the programming in general is incredibly easy on the s9 enabling you to fine-tune your coffee to your taste using your favourite coffee blends and specialities. Simply use the dial to move through each programmable option on the LED display. The display has two lines, each displaying up to ten bright-red characters, making it really easy to read and providing simple instructions to help you navigate through all the menus in seven languages. Using the machine quickly becomes second nature, even for those with little or no experience of automatic coffee machines.
You can create so many varieties of coffee without the necessity to spend hours trawling through the instructions with the one touch and basic options, while also having the choice to delve much more deeply and to tweek the settings as much or as little as you'd like, as all coffee, frothing, and hot water functions are completely programmable, and you can set temperature, coffee volume and coffee strength for each button.
As always with Jura coffee machines, the s9 is superb. It features two thermo block heating systems, one supplying water for the coffee and one supplying steam. This allows you to switch between functions without any waiting time, which is not the case with most other machines which tend to have a single heating system which necessitates waiting for the machine to heat up again between single operations.
It also boasts several other features including a commercial-grade conical burr grinder, automatic cleaning cycles, and the claris water filtration system. This greatly reduces the need for decalcification. It can deliver up to two cups at a time, of coffee shop quality, by grinding, tamping and brewing perfect espresso or crema coffee in seconds.
You can see the attention to detail in every aspect of the machine. For example, the coffee dispenser adjusts precisely to any cup size from 66 to 146mm, ensuring a perfectly soft, silky crema with every cup of coffee you make with the Jura s9, while at the same time it helps prevent splashing on the front panel of the machine.
The stainless steel casing is also a breeze to keep clean, requiring nothing more than a wipe-down with a damp cloth. Maintenance inside and out is as easy as can be leaving you free to enjoy great tasting coffee from a great looking machine every single day.
While the price tag could be daunting - as Jura coffee are far from cheap - when you consider the quality, versatility, and features of the machine, it's worth it.
The Jura s9 is a truly outstanding machine.
A Bunch Of Facts You May Not Know About The Vita (Game Informer)
The Vita is only a few months away here in the states, but we've got the Vita
in the Game Informer offices, and I was the lucky editor who got to take it
home over the holiday break. I've been able to spend some quality time with
the device, and I wanted to point out a few things that make the handheld
great, and a few that make the handheld not so great.****
**The control stick is really close to the X button**
Getting your thumb on the X button without accidently pushing the control
stick is difficult. Among the demos and games I played around with, it never
caused a major problem, but I did have to consciously rotate my thumb to lay
horizontally above the control stick. It may be an issue for gamers with
larger hands, or swollen thumbs from accidentally hammering it while hanging a
framed picture. Sony needs to account for its carpenter demographic, and I
fear they may have overlooked that whole group.
**Accidentally touching the touch-screen is common**
Much like the control sticks' proximity to the X button, it never caused a
huge problem, but I did find ...
