acer laptop acting weird?

I have an acer laptop here at moment, it boots fine,runs fine no probs, however occasionaly if you move it then it cuts out, this happens whether it is on the mains or battery. it is like something is shortening out, have stripped ity down to bare motherboard, and cannot see any broken or loose wires,

when you pick it up and give it a shake it seems fine, but juts move it slightly and off it goes?

I disagree with your assesment on acer, we have 2 of them and have had one for over 8 years and only had to reformat once, and the second acer 3 year and no issues,

If the issue happens whether on ac or battery then the issue is not th ac adapter.
When you say it cuts out, do you still see lights, hear the fa/drive or is it just the screen that cuts out?

Put your video outout to an enternal monitor PURPOSELY try to get it to cut out. If it stops, then the issue is the lcd inverter (probaby) or the ribbon connector from the mobo to the lcd panel.

If the issue recurs, you're looking at a bad lcd panel. you are looking at a bad motherboard. Try to pinch along the edges of the lcd bezel, see if that helps.

Go to ANY college campus and look at what IT majors use. you will not find one acer amongst them. Acer advertises heavily, and so gets plenty of reviews in CONSUMER magazines. But INDUSTRY periodicals view acer poorly. At conventions for industry, acer is considered a joke. You can have any opinion you want. Professionals know differently.
