Im curous if you can take an ati crossfire compatible gpu and combine it with the onboard graphics alone. or is it mandatory to have another gpu?
Hybrid Crossfire X is what its called, yes if the m/b supports it. Any GPU in the same series will work. Useful for 2 lower power cards to increase performance, not advisable to use hi end card with integrated VGA as it would cause a decrease in performance [disable integrated VGA] is the best for using a single hi end card.
